Religious Communities and Allen Hall
The Allen Hall community includes a number of novices and students from religious communities. The seminary programme is flexible, and the Rector and Formation Team work with Novice Masters and Religious Superiors to agree the most suitable formation for each individual.
In recent years religious seminarians from the following congregations have been in formation at Allen Hall: Norbertines, Salvatorians, Passionists, Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, Augustinians, and others.
Sometimes a religious seminarian will spend the whole of his time of priestly formation at Allen Hall. In other cases a religious seminarian might study philosophy for two years at Allen Hall before moving on to another seminary situation for theological studies, or the other way round. Either way, the seminary and religious congregation work out a way of meeting the formation needs of the individual concerned. Some religious seminarians live in at Allen Hall and participate in the communal life of the house, including the pastoral and spiritual formation programmes. Other religious seminarians live in their own houses and come to Allen Hall primarily to take part in the academic formation programme. The seminary respects the different formation traditions of the various religious orders, and comes to a formal agreement with each religious congregation about exactly how the formation process will work.
